The exact eligibility depends on the legal entity, age, turnover, business model and innovation/scalability criteria applicable to your startup.
Eligibility assessment first
We recommend checking your exact case before starting the application.
Entity should be incorporated or registered in India in an eligible legal form.
Eligible forms include Private Limited Company, LLP, registered Partnership Firm and Cooperative Society under the current recognition framework.
Normal startup recognition is available for up to 10 years from incorporation or registration.
DeepTech startups can have a recognition period of up to 20 years subject to the applicable criteria.
Annual turnover should not exceed ₹200 crore in any financial year for normal startups.
For eligible DeepTech startups, the current threshold is ₹300 crore.
The entity should work towards innovation, development or improvement of products, processes or services, or have a scalable business model with potential for employment or wealth creation.
An entity formed by splitting up or reconstruction of an existing business is not considered eligible for Startup recognition.
